Kit Kat leads to love for Fay and Steve

Newlyweds Fay Wood and Steve Lamb, met in the unlikeliest setting of a petrol station late one night when Fay’s friend was in need of chocolate, a kit-kat to be precise, and Steve had stopped to buy a sandwich on his way to a night club.

Steve cheekily managed to get Fay’s phone number and called her the next morning and the rest is history.  A few months later Steve moved in to Fay’s flat and last Christmas Eve he delighted her by proposing at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.  Fay loves Christmas and had always dreamed of a winter wedding so her thoughts turned to saving up for the big day.

Two weeks later fate intervened again when Fay’s bridesmaid found an amazing deal on the internet for a late availability wedding at the beautiful Gosfield Hall for just five weeks later. After sleeping on the decision, Steve and Fay decided it was just too good an opportunity to miss and booked their whirlwind wedding.

“I’m not one to worry about all the extras at a wedding” Fay told me, “In fact it was Steve who decided we needed chair covers. I was just happy to be marrying my perfect man at such a perfect venue.”

Not one to hang around, Fay found her dream wedding dress, at Looking Good in Billericay, the very same afternoon. The fact that it was a size 16 and Fay is a petite size 8 didn’t deter her and after getting the seal of approval from her mum, the dress was altered to a perfect fit in time for her big day.

To the couple’s delight their wedding day on February 10th was snowy, fulfilling Fay’s dream of a proper winter wedding.

Looking beautiful in her close fitted full length  gown, with leopard  print shoes hidden underneath,  and given away by her mum, Fay was attended by four bridesmaids, friends Kat and Donna, her nieces,  Shannon 10 and Georgia 7, flower girl Rockella 4 and pageboy Nico 5.  Shannon and Georgia’s late mother Fay’s sister Nicola was not forgotten as Fay carried a miniature photograph of her in her red silk rose bouquet, a lasting keepsake of a beautiful day.

Steve looked handsome in smart three piece tailed suit and was attended by best man Mark.

In a tribute to the new Mr and Mrs Lamb, the cup- cake tower wedding cake made by a family friend was topped by two lambs!

After the wedding, the couple indulged in a snowball fight with Fay wearing bright red wellington boots.

After a delicious meal the couple danced to Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together and Barry White’s My First My Last My Everything.  Bette Midler’s The Rose made a poignant tribute to Fay’s sister.

Fay explained how although she had been perfectly content living with Steve being married had somehow made their love complete. “With our dog, we are now a proper family.”

Niece Georgia summed up the whole day when asked what she thought a wedding was about.
“It’s to show people how much you love you each other.”  Well said Georgia and we’re sure this is a love that will last a lifetime.
